NC State lands commitment from 4-star SG Paul McNeil Jr. after win over UNC

Richmond Senior High School four-star shooting guard Paul McNeil Jr. has committed to NC State.

McNeil shared the news on social media on Sunday evening after attending the Wolfpack's win over UNC on Sunday afternoon.

Standing at 6-foot-7 and 185 pounds, McNeil is a member of the Class of 2024. He is rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports.com and is ranked the No. 26 player nationally in his class.

As a junior this season, McNeil has averaged 23.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for the Raiders. He also averaged 4.4 assists, 2.4 steals, and 1.3 blocks.

Richmond is 23-2 overall and earned the No. 2 seed in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A state playoffs. The Raiders will host No. 31 Purnell Swett in the first round.

McNeil left Richmond after last season and enrolled at Prolific Prep in California, but returned to Richmond at the start of the 2022-2023 season.

During his sophomore season, McNeil averaged 24.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 1.7 steals. His performance earned him the Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year Award. He was also named the Sandhills Athletic Conference Player of the Year and the N.C. Basketball Coaches Association District Player of the Year. McNeil also received HighSchoolOT All-State Team and NCBCA All-State Team recognition.

McNeil also reported offers from Clemson, Florida State, Indiana, LSU, Miami, Missouri, Nebraska, Norfolk State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and Western Carolina.
