Durham officer injured in crash responding to call, community rallies with support

A Durham Police Officer is recovering in the hospital after a serious car accident on Thursday evening.

Officer Brianne Jones was responding to a high-priority call during the time of the incident that left her with multiple serious injuries.

She has already undergone several surgeries and faces additional procedures in the future.

To help, a GoFundMe campaign has been created to support Jones with rent, food, and medical expenses.

Officer Jones has served the Durham Police Department for five years.

Before her police service, she honorably served as an Airborne Combat Medic in the United States Army, including a deployment to Afghanistan. Officer Jones also remains an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
